Karen Lee, Aircraft Services Coordinator
The Hong Kong International Airport is the world’s busiest cargo gateway and one of the world’s busiest passenger airports. We have to ensure an efficient and timely turnaround of aircraft. Cleaning works, uploading of baggage and fuel supply etc. have to be done in around one hour time. The fifteen minutes before boarding of passengers is always the busiest moment for us.
A lot of ad hoc incidents that happen every day make my job very challenging. If a passenger flying with checked baggage fails to be on board, I have to coordinate with my colleagues immediately to unload his baggage from the aircraft before departure according to international rules. During typhoon seasons when we have to work under harsh weather to handle delayed flights, we all display great team spirit helping each other to provide prompt and professional services.
